This group began over 30 years ago in Centreville, Illinois when most of its members were still in elementary and high school. Today God is effectively using them to cover the globe with the impact of His power to set the captive free. Their original music remains freshly anointed and has been shared across the U.S., overseas in numerous third-world nations, and is presently scheduled in part of Africa and Haiti.

They have written over 300 original compositions. Their first recording was done in 1978 in the form of a 45 record, You Can Count On Him and He Did It All For Me. During those early years very few young people were doing religious recordings and even fewer were as dedicated and focused as The Messengers. They spent entire summers in prayer, fasting and outreach. In 1980 they produced an album Heaven Bound and later in 1985 did their first live recording, Unity in the Spirit?. This recording was produced by St. Paul Bible College in Minnesota and was used as a witnessing tool for its campus. Much later in 1994, a studio audiocassette tape was released, Heaven. Because of their busy schedule only this year have begun work on their first CD, which will be released soon.

The Messengers were asked to be regular featured guest on KTVI Channel 2 Gods Musical World? with Dr. Billups for 5 consecutive years. They sponsored their own Bible teaching radio broadcast Back to Basics with Radio Station 690 and musical inserts with Radio Station WCBW. They continue to circulate their newsletter and contact with partners across the U.S. and abroad with their 1000 plus personal mailing list.

The group, whose ministerial covering is that of Bishop E. L. Warren (Cathedral of Worship/Quincy, IL) continue to operate 13 various outreach programs; one of which involves the offering of their personal music gifting. They are known for reaching out to the poor, street crusades, and disciple prison inmates in major level five institutions. The word of the Lord preached from these six ministers is seasonal, the music is prophetic, and the glory of God is powerfully present in their concerts.

The group consists of Wilma and her husband Howard, Wilma's sister and brother Tessa and Michael, her brother-in-law Wesley, and a dear friend Herbert. In addition to their concerts and preaching, they also provide workshops to various praise and worship teams via a yearly Praise and Worship Symposium held each spring. Believing that music should not only be a skill, but also house the anointing of God to destroy and break yokes. Because of this belief, they endeavor to share lessons they have learned to other praise and worship leaders within the Body of Christ.

If they are ever in your area, please make arrangements to attend their anointed praise and worship services; you won't be disappointed!
